Egyptian ExhibitionMade in 2025

Project Period: October 2024 - December 2024

As part of my school’s art history project, I contributed to an ancient Egyptian-themed art exhibition at the Shanghai Museum, where we created a series of gifts for visitors. The collection included leaf carvings, bracelets, paperweights, column capital wood carvings, necklaces, and promotional brochures. We integrated traditional Egyptian symbols and history into modern design through in-depth research.

I was responsible for the visual design of most materials, including papyrus-themed leaf carvings, time-symbolizing bracelets, and jewelry inspired by ancient murals. Additionally, I assisted in creating informative brochures about the Amarna period and Akhenaten’s giant statue.

The designs featured historical symbols, like Egyptian numerals recording time from 1295 B.C. to 2024, and sun patterns representing the god Aten. The color schemes of white, black, and gold referenced sacred Egyptian beliefs, while natural motifs in the wooden carvings reflected the Nile’s landscape. The necklaces incorporated colors and gold from ancient murals.

This project deepened my understanding of ancient Egyptian art and its symbols while improving my skills in cross-media design, cultural research, and creative storytelling. The works were well-received, with 50 sets distributed at the museum, and some designs will be kept for future educational purposes.
